Chris is the owner of Backbone Yoga in Clinton, NJ. Prior to opening Backbone, Chris spent the better part of a decade training and teaching in NYC. He both managed and taught at PURE Yoga, NYC's and the East Cost's largest yoga studio.
Chris received his teaching certification from Guta Hedewig of the Yoga School of New York in the Krishnamacharya Tradition. He has studied extensively with other renowned teachers such as Isaac Pena, Jonathan Nosan, and Terrence Monte.
Chris is a competitive martial artist with an extensive stand-up and ground game pedigree. He holds black belts in TKD and Kempo, a brown belt in Judo, a purple belt in BJJ from Subforce, and has received numerous accolades in SAMBO grappling. He teaches at IMPACT Martial Arts in Clinton, NJ, as well.
Morgan believes yoga is a journey of self-discovery. She was first introduced to hot yoga by her roommate in college. The studio was in walking distance from their apartment and a convenient form of exercise to add to her normal routine. Attending class became a ritual. She fell in love with the practice, with the feeling she got each and every time she stepped on her mat.
She received her 200RYT from Marianne Wells Yoga School in Cahuita, Costa Rica, studying under Marianne Wells. She teaches a variety of classes in Hunterdon County, NJ, from invigorating Vinyasa to relaxing Restorative.
Morgan is also drawn to the fun spirited practice of Kids Yoga and has pursued additional training through DIG Yoga in Lambertville, NJ, under Denise Orloff.
She encourages her students to focus on personal self progress rather than comparing themselves to others. There is nothing more gratifying than watching her students’ faces light up when they succeed and their ability to laugh when they fall. “Inspire those around you to be the best that they can be.”
Catherine is a New Jersey based 200-hour RYT specializing in Vinyasa Yoga. With a background in ballet and modern dance, Catherine naturally connected with yoga and started the practice as a teen. While attending college, Catherine lived right nextdoor to YOUnique Yoga. She started working at their front desk in exchange for free yoga. This is where Catherine fell in love with the practice. She completed their 200-hour teacher-training program under Yoga Alliance and began teaching. Once she finished college, Catherine moved to the Jersey Shore where she taught yoga full-time. She has taught in many amazing studios, on beaches, and on water. Now residing in Hunterdon County, Catherine is the co-creator of Yoga Haven, a free spirited yoga studio in Clinton, NJ. She also handles public relations for an Ayurvedic Practitioner, deepening her knowledge of ancient healing methods from India. In her spare time, Catherine can be found on her SUP board (stand up paddle). This has led her to her most recent opportunity where she will be managing a team of SUP Yoga Ambassadors across the globe. Catherine’s classes are fun and accessible to everyone. The environment is peaceful and non-judgmental. She incorporates creative sequencing and deep breathing, all to good music. Her purpose in life is to inspire. Spread love. Spread peace. And to find a deeper purpose in everything that she does.

Words can not describe our unreal experiences, everyone stepped out of their comfort zone multiple times during the trip, faced their fears and most of all we all gained 15 new sisters. This trip was a truly unforgettable experience that all of us will keep close to our hearts for years to come. Our stay, the people, the country, the food is just amazing! #costaricarebels !!
Incredible! Such a great group of people to spend my time with. Everyone was so positive and encouraging. I am looking forward to the next adventure with the hosts. Lets do this.
Perfect location to retreat to and focus on what matters. Secluded yet close to beautiful beaches and towns. El Sabanerno felt like home. An excellent spot to wake up in and come home to after a day of exploring or soaking up the salt water with an Imperial in hand.
The trip fulfilled every need I had coming into it- from peace on the mat, an amazing group of women, to a tranquil space for reflecting and growing. Shayna was the best retreat leader I could have asked for- attentive to all of our needs, supportive, warm, on top of every detail and aspect of the trip. Just fantastic.
Costa Rica was amazing! Great scenery, people, beaches and food! I highly recommend this trip to anyone!
WOW. Just WOW. Considering that A. this was my first yoga retreat and B. this was my first time traveling with Trip Tribe, I am entirely blown away and slightly addicted! I traveled with my boyfriend, who is NOT a yogi (bu really enjoyed the trip!!). We loved meeting new people and exploring with such a fun group of singles, friends, other couples and fellow travelers: Details: First of all, the coordination of flights and transportation was perfect. Everything went smoothly. Trip Tribe communicated everything we needed to know well ahead of our departure and Amy, the trip ambassador, supplemented with additional information as needed. Once we arrived at our destination, I was pleased to see that our accommodations at El Sabanero were humble, yet comfortable and adequate (think: clean but simple), and that there were common comforts like hot water (with some patience), safes and wifi (slowish wifi). They even provided a few shampoos, bars of soap and beach towels, which was unexpected. The natural surroundings of El Sabanero were beautiful and it was such a treat to stay in such a lovely natural environment. The general atmosphere at El Sabanero was amazing. The pool was lovely to swim in after our sweaty yoga sessions. The large meeting/eating space was tranquil and lovely. And the yoga spaces where we practiced were calm and peaceful. And the staff from all different parts of our trip -- from Harold to Hazel to Ana to Fernando to Donald, etc. -- were amazing, kind and welcoming. They made it really feel like home! The food at El Sabanero was AMAZING. A-MA-ZING. The kitchen staff really knows what they are doing and totally spoiled us with fresh bread, homemade gourmet meals and amazing dishes all week long. Even some of the packed lunches (for when we weren't there during lunch) were good! A HUGE thumbs up and major reason why you should stay at El Sabanero! Also, it doesn't hurt that beer/wine/cocktails are crazy affordable and also delicious! As for the yoga, Amy did her usual amazing thing. I've taken several classes of hers in DC, so I wasn't surprised to find that she taught similar wonderful classes in Costa Rica. Newbie or advanced, this girl's classes are a MUST-do! I particularly loved her Fusion Flow Yoga class (think martial arts meets HIIT meets yoga) and the nightly Nidra/Restorative classes. Major thumbs up for the quality of the classes, variety of classes and expertise of our instructor and trip ambassador! Additionally, I went to several beach visits during my trip with the group, and loved them both! I event tried my hand at surfing which was a total blast. I would also recommend getting a massage from Ana, going on the adventure tour and heading on the Catamaran Sunset sail (erm, skip that if you are seasick!). All in all, this was an amazing trip. Kudos!
The entire staff at El Sabanero was amazing! Harold, Donald, Hazel, Amit and Fernando were a dream team. We were well fed, taken care of, and given space when we needed it. The setting was so peaceful and beautiful I would highly recommend it!
