Seattle native Rebekah Santiago, was first introduced to yoga through prenatal classes when she was pregnant with her first child in 1998. She continued to immerse herself in yoga after the birth, where she learned greater body control through postures and breath work and discovered how truly amazing and enriching yoga could be. Over the years Rebekah has become acquainted with a variety of different styles and developed a deep love and passion for yoga both on and off the mat. Wanting to add a deeper healing practice, Rebekah decided to add Reiki to her classes and studio. The combination of yoga and Reiki has heightened her growth of understanding ones being and the importance of chakras and energy work. Through the 6 years of owning her studio, Rebekah understands and appreciates creating a loving, safe, peaceful environment for every practice no matter where it is.
About Rebekah Santiago
Quiet and beautiful, existing in harmony with nature is the El Sabanero Eco-Lodge.
Located on a hillside in Cañafistula near Tamarindo, the hotel overlooks the Cañafistula Valley with beautiful views from all chalets.
We are in the midst of 4 of the most popular and beautiful beaches in the area so our clients do not need to choose just one and have a variety to choose from. Playa Avellanas, Playa Negra, Playa Junquillal and Tamarindo are all just a few minutes drive away. (Beaches are not in walking distance.)
The Lodge: El Sabanero Eco Lodge was built in 2004 using all local material. Construction time was about 18 months and it was opened in 2005 to cater to nature seekers giving them a home away from home. A private escape cloaked in serenity and embraced by natural beauty, a unique place for those with a passion for authentic experiences.
In 2012, Jamie Kalynuik, owner of Torontoyogamamas visited us for the first time and fell in love with El Sabanero as a Yoga retreat.
Being herself a certified prenatal and postnatal yoga instructor she welcomed the peace and serenity of El Sabanero.
The result: In 2015 we had over 180 days of Yoga teacher Training and Yoga retreats bookings.
Includes daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Epic
Words can not describe our unreal experiences, everyone stepped out of their comfort zone multiple times during the trip, faced their fears and most of all we all gained 15 new sisters. This trip was a truly unforgettable experience that all of us will keep close to our hearts for years to come. Our stay, the people, the country, the food is just amazing! #costaricarebels !!
Incredible! Such a great group of people to spend my time with. Everyone was so positive and encouraging. I am looking forward to the next adventure with the hosts. Lets do this.
Perfect location to retreat to and focus on what matters. Secluded yet close to beautiful beaches and towns. El Sabanerno felt like home. An excellent spot to wake up in and come home to after a day of exploring or soaking up the salt water with an Imperial in hand.
The trip fulfilled every need I had coming into it- from peace on the mat, an amazing group of women, to a tranquil space for reflecting and growing. Shayna was the best retreat leader I could have asked for- attentive to all of our needs, supportive, warm, on top of every detail and aspect of the trip. Just fantastic.
Costa Rica was amazing! Great scenery, people, beaches and food! I highly recommend this trip to anyone!
WOW. Just WOW. Considering that A. this was my first yoga retreat and B. this was my first time traveling with Trip Tribe, I am entirely blown away and slightly addicted! I traveled with my boyfriend, who is NOT a yogi (bu really enjoyed the trip!!). We loved meeting new people and exploring with such a fun group of singles, friends, other couples and fellow travelers: Details: First of all, the coordination of flights and transportation was perfect. Everything went smoothly. Trip Tribe communicated everything we needed to know well ahead of our departure and Amy, the trip ambassador, supplemented with additional information as needed. Once we arrived at our destination, I was pleased to see that our accommodations at El Sabanero were humble, yet comfortable and adequate (think: clean but simple), and that there were common comforts like hot water (with some patience), safes and wifi (slowish wifi). They even provided a few shampoos, bars of soap and beach towels, which was unexpected. The natural surroundings of El Sabanero were beautiful and it was such a treat to stay in such a lovely natural environment. The general atmosphere at El Sabanero was amazing. The pool was lovely to swim in after our sweaty yoga sessions. The large meeting/eating space was tranquil and lovely. And the yoga spaces where we practiced were calm and peaceful. And the staff from all different parts of our trip -- from Harold to Hazel to Ana to Fernando to Donald, etc. -- were amazing, kind and welcoming. They made it really feel like home! The food at El Sabanero was AMAZING. A-MA-ZING. The kitchen staff really knows what they are doing and totally spoiled us with fresh bread, homemade gourmet meals and amazing dishes all week long. Even some of the packed lunches (for when we weren't there during lunch) were good! A HUGE thumbs up and major reason why you should stay at El Sabanero! Also, it doesn't hurt that beer/wine/cocktails are crazy affordable and also delicious! As for the yoga, Amy did her usual amazing thing. I've taken several classes of hers in DC, so I wasn't surprised to find that she taught similar wonderful classes in Costa Rica. Newbie or advanced, this girl's classes are a MUST-do! I particularly loved her Fusion Flow Yoga class (think martial arts meets HIIT meets yoga) and the nightly Nidra/Restorative classes. Major thumbs up for the quality of the classes, variety of classes and expertise of our instructor and trip ambassador! Additionally, I went to several beach visits during my trip with the group, and loved them both! I event tried my hand at surfing which was a total blast. I would also recommend getting a massage from Ana, going on the adventure tour and heading on the Catamaran Sunset sail (erm, skip that if you are seasick!). All in all, this was an amazing trip. Kudos!
The entire staff at El Sabanero was amazing! Harold, Donald, Hazel, Amit and Fernando were a dream team. We were well fed, taken care of, and given space when we needed it. The setting was so peaceful and beautiful I would highly recommend it!
This trip was excellent. El Sabenero, A beautiful and great place to disconnect and relax. The retreat allowed me to experience new ways/perspetive on loving myself first. I highly reccomend this trip overall, hospitality was excellent. Everything was just perfect!
Loved, loved El Sabanero! Everything went as scheduled, and everyone was so friendly and accommodating!
The overall trip was amazing. Met or exceeded my expectations at every level. Loved the outdoor yoga studio and beautiful views we enjoyed with each practice. Weather was perfect this time of year.
This was a wonderful trip. The yoga was great. Gail is a terrific teacher. She makes the yoga appropriate for each person that is there.
I loved it. El Sabanero Eco Lodge is the perfect place. Kurt and Harold are lovely hosts. The meals were the best I've ever had - ANYWHERE.
Had an awesome time! Lots of fun, laughter, wonderful excursions, good food, great workouts, had time to recharge and the staff was very accommodating. Can't wait to go on another retreat!
I've never come home from a vacation so recharged and peaceful. I can't wait to come back!
This was a life altering experience, The people! The accommodation! The FOOD!!!!! Dear God the Food! What amazing people who run El Sabanaro. And my amazing new and old friends who joined me have forever impacted my journey. Thank you Trip Tribe for making this so easy!!
Great
Couldn't have asked for a better first experience on a yoga retreat! The lodge was tucked away in a very small secluded area which was nice and transportation is a must to venture out. The food provided by Donald was mind blowing. The opportunity to practice above the lodges was incredible, practices were greeted with gorgeous views and a variety of local sounds. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
Foundations and Flow with Tina and Christina at El Sabanero was a truly special experience and one that I will never forget. This trip was a unique opportunity to create a close-knit community from people that had been only barely acquainted before. The natural environment, pool, and open-air yoga studio provided the perfect peaceful setting to recharge and relax. The lodge itself is rustic and a bit far from major attractions. The scenery is not the lush jungle one might imagine when picturing Costa Rica, but it is only about 20 minutes from beautiful beaches. I cannot highly enough recommend Christina and Tina as yoga instructors and spiritual leaders, nor can I praise adequately the healthy and delicious food, prepared mostly by Donald and Hazel.
I am so grateful to have had this opportunity to share my love for yoga with so many great people. And to do this in such a beautiful country was definitely a bonus. I will always cherish the memory of this retreat experience!
Our time in Costa Rica was fabulous. The lodge was great. Harold, Donald and the others at the eco lodge took great care of all of us. Great food and location. The yoga studio where we practiced was outdoors and beautiful. Trip Tribe made the trip easy and reasonable.
Had a truly wonderful time.
I had a great time! The trip was all I hoped it would be!
Trip was fabulous
What a wonderful experience! Trip Tribe was fantastic throughout the process especially this being our first retreat with a very large group attending. The staff at El Sabanero could not have been more hospitable. Harold, the resort manager communicated directly with me throughout the process answering questions as they came up. Donald and Hazel, our chefs were wonderful. They worked with varying dietary needs of our large group of 33 students. Yoga space was lovely and even enjoyed a closing ceremony bonfire at the fire pit. Already planning our next retreat! PURA VIDA!
Practicing yoga in the open air studio was refreshing. The outdoor sights and sounds were nourishing for body and soul.
Loved that there was no fuss with vegan food. Everyone was friendly.
