with Jenny Adams in Canafistula, Costa Rica
6 nights in Canafistula, Costa Rica
Sat Sep 08 - Fri Sep 14, 2018
Join Shamanic Wellness Coach Jenny Adams in the beautiful, quiet Cañafistula Valley in Costa Rica for a deep, transformational journey through the Archetypal Myths of the Sacred Feminine.
In the midst of 4 of the most popular and beautiful beaches in the area, travelers can choose any aspect of the Costa Rican landscape to enjoy while here. With daily yoga, guided meditation, Goddess classes, fresh - locally sourced cuisine, daily beach visits, cenotes (underwater caves) to explore, breath Work, quiet time, and loads of other activities, this trip is the perfect way to relax, re-energize, and remember the Yin within.
Joseph Campbell said, “I don’t believe that people are looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive.” So often in our fast paced society, our health, happiness, and vitality suffer because our Psyche gets out of balance. The externally focused masculine ‘Yang’ aspect overly binds us, while the feminine ‘Yin’ (or ‘being-ness’) is cast to the side. When in this polarized imbalance, we may feel anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, or even emotionally numb. Nature teaches that we need balance to truly thrive. We need times of darkness and times of light. We need seasons to change and grow. Likewise, we need both the masculine and feminine, our sun and moon, to feel true Wholeness.
In this week long intensive, we are going to wake up the inner feminine and let her guide us back into alignment with our true essence. Each aspect of the Sacred Feminine (virgin, seductress, mother, crone, grandmother) marks specific lessons, guidance, and tools that can repair, invigorate, and assist the Psyche toward luminous Self-Realization.
Through archetypal storytelling, historical insights, group discussion, movement (asana), mindfulness meditation, breath work, and astrological symbolism, we will begin to deepen our awareness of the sacred feminine principles working throughout our lives.

Quiet and beautiful, existing in harmony with nature is the El Sabanero Eco-Lodge.
Located on a hillside in Cañafistula near Tamarindo, the hotel overlooks the Cañafistula Valley with beautiful views from all chalets.
We are in the midst of 4 of the most popular and beautiful beaches in the area so our clients do not need to choose just one and have a variety to choose from. Playa Avellanas, Playa Negra, Playa Junquillal and Tamarindo are all just a few minutes drive away. (Beaches are not in walking distance.)
The Lodge: El Sabanero Eco Lodge was built in 2004 using all local material. Construction time was about 18 months and it was opened in 2005 to cater to nature seekers giving them a home away from home. A private escape cloaked in serenity and embraced by natural beauty, a unique place for those with a passion for authentic experiences.
In 2012, Jamie Kalynuik, owner of Torontoyogamamas visited us for the first time and fell in love with El Sabanero as a Yoga retreat.
Being herself a certified prenatal and postnatal yoga instructor she welcomed the peace and serenity of El Sabanero.
The result: In 2015 we had over 180 days of Yoga teacher Training and Yoga retreats bookings.
Includes daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Words can not describe our unreal experiences, everyone stepped out of their comfort zone multiple times during the trip, faced their fears and most of all we all gained 15 new sisters. This trip was a truly unforgettable experience that all of us will keep close to our hearts for years to come. Our stay, the people, the country, the food is just amazing! #costaricarebels !!
Incredible! Such a great group of people to spend my time with. Everyone was so positive and encouraging. I am looking forward to the next adventure with the hosts. Lets do this.
Perfect location to retreat to and focus on what matters. Secluded yet close to beautiful beaches and towns. El Sabanerno felt like home. An excellent spot to wake up in and come home to after a day of exploring or soaking up the salt water with an Imperial in hand.
The trip fulfilled every need I had coming into it- from peace on the mat, an amazing group of women, to a tranquil space for reflecting and growing. Shayna was the best retreat leader I could have asked for- attentive to all of our needs, supportive, warm, on top of every detail and aspect of the trip. Just fantastic.
Costa Rica was amazing! Great scenery, people, beaches and food! I highly recommend this trip to anyone!
WOW. Just WOW. Considering that A. this was my first yoga retreat and B. this was my first time traveling with Trip Tribe, I am entirely blown away and slightly addicted! I traveled with my boyfriend, who is NOT a yogi (bu really enjoyed the trip!!). We loved meeting new people and exploring with such a fun group of singles, friends, other couples and fellow travelers: Details: First of all, the coordination of flights and transportation was perfect. Everything went smoothly. Trip Tribe communicated everything we needed to know well ahead of our departure and Amy, the trip ambassador, supplemented with additional information as needed. Once we arrived at our destination, I was pleased to see that our accommodations at El Sabanero were humble, yet comfortable and adequate (think: clean but simple), and that there were common comforts like hot water (with some patience), safes and wifi (slowish wifi). They even provided a few shampoos, bars of soap and beach towels, which was unexpected. The natural surroundings of El Sabanero were beautiful and it was such a treat to stay in such a lovely natural environment. The general atmosphere at El Sabanero was amazing. The pool was lovely to swim in after our sweaty yoga sessions. The large meeting/eating space was tranquil and lovely. And the yoga spaces where we practiced were calm and peaceful. And the staff from all different parts of our trip -- from Harold to Hazel to Ana to Fernando to Donald, etc. -- were amazing, kind and welcoming. They made it really feel like home! The food at El Sabanero was AMAZING. A-MA-ZING. The kitchen staff really knows what they are doing and totally spoiled us with fresh bread, homemade gourmet meals and amazing dishes all week long. Even some of the packed lunches (for when we weren't there during lunch) were good! A HUGE thumbs up and major reason why you should stay at El Sabanero! Also, it doesn't hurt that beer/wine/cocktails are crazy affordable and also delicious! As for the yoga, Amy did her usual amazing thing. I've taken several classes of hers in DC, so I wasn't surprised to find that she taught similar wonderful classes in Costa Rica. Newbie or advanced, this girl's classes are a MUST-do! I particularly loved her Fusion Flow Yoga class (think martial arts meets HIIT meets yoga) and the nightly Nidra/Restorative classes. Major thumbs up for the quality of the classes, variety of classes and expertise of our instructor and trip ambassador! Additionally, I went to several beach visits during my trip with the group, and loved them both! I event tried my hand at surfing which was a total blast. I would also recommend getting a massage from Ana, going on the adventure tour and heading on the Catamaran Sunset sail (erm, skip that if you are seasick!). All in all, this was an amazing trip. Kudos!
The entire staff at El Sabanero was amazing! Harold, Donald, Hazel, Amit and Fernando were a dream team. We were well fed, taken care of, and given space when we needed it. The setting was so peaceful and beautiful I would highly recommend it!
This trip was excellent. El Sabenero, A beautiful and great place to disconnect and relax. The retreat allowed me to experience new ways/perspetive on loving myself first. I highly reccomend this trip overall, hospitality was excellent. Everything was just perfect!
Loved, loved El Sabanero! Everything went as scheduled, and everyone was so friendly and accommodating!
The overall trip was amazing. Met or exceeded my expectations at every level. Loved the outdoor yoga studio and beautiful views we enjoyed with each practice. Weather was perfect this time of year.
This was a wonderful trip. The yoga was great. Gail is a terrific teacher. She makes the yoga appropriate for each person that is there.
I loved it. El Sabanero Eco Lodge is the perfect place. Kurt and Harold are lovely hosts. The meals were the best I've ever had - ANYWHERE.
Had an awesome time! Lots of fun, laughter, wonderful excursions, good food, great workouts, had time to recharge and the staff was very accommodating. Can't wait to go on another retreat!
I've never come home from a vacation so recharged and peaceful. I can't wait to come back!
This was a life altering experience, The people! The accommodation! The FOOD!!!!! Dear God the Food! What amazing people who run El Sabanaro. And my amazing new and old friends who joined me have forever impacted my journey. Thank you Trip Tribe for making this so easy!!
Couldn't have asked for a better first experience on a yoga retreat! The lodge was tucked away in a very small secluded area which was nice and transportation is a must to venture out. The food provided by Donald was mind blowing. The opportunity to practice above the lodges was incredible, practices were greeted with gorgeous views and a variety of local sounds. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
Foundations and Flow with Tina and Christina at El Sabanero was a truly special experience and one that I will never forget. This trip was a unique opportunity to create a close-knit community from people that had been only barely acquainted before. The natural environment, pool, and open-air yoga studio provided the perfect peaceful setting to recharge and relax. The lodge itself is rustic and a bit far from major attractions. The scenery is not the lush jungle one might imagine when picturing Costa Rica, but it is only about 20 minutes from beautiful beaches. I cannot highly enough recommend Christina and Tina as yoga instructors and spiritual leaders, nor can I praise adequately the healthy and delicious food, prepared mostly by Donald and Hazel.
I am so grateful to have had this opportunity to share my love for yoga with so many great people. And to do this in such a beautiful country was definitely a bonus. I will always cherish the memory of this retreat experience!
Our time in Costa Rica was fabulous. The lodge was great. Harold, Donald and the others at the eco lodge took great care of all of us. Great food and location. The yoga studio where we practiced was outdoors and beautiful. Trip Tribe made the trip easy and reasonable.
Had a truly wonderful time.
I had a great time! The trip was all I hoped it would be!
Trip was fabulous
What a wonderful experience! Trip Tribe was fantastic throughout the process especially this being our first retreat with a very large group attending. The staff at El Sabanero could not have been more hospitable. Harold, the resort manager communicated directly with me throughout the process answering questions as they came up. Donald and Hazel, our chefs were wonderful. They worked with varying dietary needs of our large group of 33 students. Yoga space was lovely and even enjoyed a closing ceremony bonfire at the fire pit. Already planning our next retreat! PURA VIDA!
Practicing yoga in the open air studio was refreshing. The outdoor sights and sounds were nourishing for body and soul.
Loved that there was no fuss with vegan food. Everyone was friendly.
Harold, Donald the chef, Kurt, Fernando and the rest of the staff are AMAZING!! The food Donald cooked for us everyday and night was healthy , delicious , absolutely the best!! I actually was not feeling welll one of the nights and Harold drove me to the pharmacy!(top service) The sweetest staff you could ask for and treated our group like family! Kurt and Harold had the best stories! My sister and I had the best vacation ever!! We will definitely be back! 💕
My trip was more than amazing! From the wonderful view, amazing food, awesome people!
Amazing experience, highly recommend! A lot of memory, experience and skilled gained! Workshops where great and teachers were attentive and accommodating.
absolutely amazing !
Amazing !!! More than expected I will remember this trip always. New friends new memories new bonds.
Unbelievably beautiful. Friendly, courteous staff. Food was prepared and offered for all discriminating palates, a 5-star rating for sure. Butterflies, flowers, birds and gorgeous landscaping surround this tropical paradise. A place to truly get away and unwind. Hammocks await afternoon naps while the pool calls for a refreshing swim. Safe, inviting and highly recommended.
My Tribe Trip experience was great, i had a wonderful time, i was able to relax and meet a lot of new friends. Thanks Costa Rica for letting us enjoy your beautiful sunsets and sunrises, your rain and your delicious food. Pura Vida!!
This trip was nothing short of perfect.
Had a lot of fun and introspection with some great people
My trip was amazing! I highly recommend it!
Everything was PERFECT! Thank you El Sabanero for everything!!!! Can not say enough great things about this place and the retreat itself. The food was excellent, the owners were kind, welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful, the rooms are beautiful as well as the yoga space, and there are many things to do in the local area. The pool was relaxing, and Costa Rica is just a sweet place, Pura Vida!
Harold from El Sabanero Eco Lodge was incredibly accommodating. Even driving me into town several times to shop and to the bank. He went above and beyond.
My trip was fantastic. Costa Rica is amazing with a laid back vibe. The food was healthy and delicious. I would also recommend getting a message from Ana. PURA VIDA!!!!!
Costa Rica was the best trip I have ever taken. Trip Tribe made it possible with easy payments and friendly email reminders.
Such an amazing Experience! Dana was a wonderful teacher, the staff and food at the resort were the best! Great experience and looking forward to going back next year!
It was the best vacation I have taken to date. I plan on using trip tribe in the future and definitely another yoga retreat with Dana Keegan. The location was beautiful, the food was exquisite, and the yoga was perfect in allowing me to adjust to a slower pace.
This trip was amazing! Everything from the planning stage all the way through to the last day was taken care of and I felt cared for and supported. This was my first experience with Trip Tribe, and certainly not my last! I am planning two more retreats at El Sabanero right now, as this venue was perfect to relax, eat, swim and play in town and at the beach just a short drive away. The food was delicious and the staff at El Sabanero were just fantastic!
Very much a remote, secluded location - perfect for a yoga retreat. Rustic and very basic, people need to keep this in mind as it is exactly what you are signing up for - a soul retreat within nature. If you want luxury, go to the Four Seasons.
Good company, beautiful pool and scenery surrounding the pool. The food was amazing.
We enjoyed our trip.
From the time we arrived to the time we left, we all had an amazing time. The space was terrific for lounging, meeting, working out, dining... and the food was terrific, (Donald the chef is a master of his craft.) Not too far from some really amazing beaches and lots of outdoor activity for anyone who is game... it's a great opportunity to connect with Costa Rica outdoors. We had an EPIC day doing the "all-day" tour. I am still buzzing about the time we spent together on this retreat. We were able to get some workouts in the morning, explore parts of Costa Rica in the afternoon, and recover and relax in the evening back at the lodge. What a hospitable and comfortable place. Harold, the manager, was so helpful to all of us. I can't say enough good things.
Most extraordinary experience. El Sabanero was the perfect accommodation for the retreat, with amazing food! From start to finish, everything ran smoothly. Bianca did an awesome job with the schedule and yoga classes. Would do it over again in a heart beat!
Had an amazing time in Costa Rica with a wonderful group of people. The yoga classes were exactly what I needed; challenging, but not so much to make me collapse onto the floor. The additional activities were a blast too. We went ziplining, horseback riding, tubing on the river, did acroyoga on the beach, went hiking... and most important, made new friends.
My trip was wonderful and I would definitely go again
Our group had an amazing time enjoying yoga twice a day, surfing, and other adventure activities. There weren't enough hours in the day to do everything we wanted to do. Thanks Trip Tribe!
I thought El Sabanero and all the staff were very accommodating and helpful. The chef was great as well as the fruit, the coffee and the chalets with the resident iguanas. The sounds of all the different birds and the howling monkeys soon became sounds of relaxation. I can’t speak too highly of Lindsay, our group leader. She shared with us her extensive knowledge of yoga , but more than that, she gave so much of herself. Yoga is so much more than a practice, but a lifestyle . Lindsay’s outlook on life is so inspirational and sincere. The cohesiveness of our group was awesome, making this such an ideal retreat... full of reflection, laughter, beauty and friendship. I’m personally looking forward to another opportunity to go on a “Lindsay” retreat.
We had an amazing time! The location is perfect. Close to Tamarindo for shopping and restaurants and of course, the beach. The staff of El Sabanero were all lovely and so helpful. I would highly recommend booking here.
As a first time leader of a yoga retreat I was so thankful for this location and this area of Costa Rica!!
This trip was an amazing week of delving deep and coming up transformed. Jenny Adams has a way of taking o group of strangers and holding the space for us to become sisters. I will seek out her trips moving forward.
This retreat was truly incredible! From the trip leaders, the fellow adventurers, the staff, the activities (yoga, meditation, catamaran trip), the AMAZING food, the experiences and the safe space created for us. I cannot rave about this trip enough. I am hoping to do another one next year!! I am so grateful that I took the chance to go to a place I had never been before and doing it alone. It was worth every single penny! I feel like every woman should have this experience at least once in their lifetime. For me, it truly was life changing and I have thought about aspects of this trip every day since I returned three weeks ago. HIGHLY, highly recommend this!!!
