6 nights in Playa Maderas, Nicaragua
Fri Apr 22 - Thu Apr 28, 2016
At Buena Vista Surf Club, guests switch off their smartphones, unwind and give in to the simple life, surrounded by lush forest and the Pacific ocean. This is a place for people who want something different – to stay in a private cabaña amongst the trees, share family-style meals with like-minded people, watch the sunset and the stars from our deck in the treetops, and stroll five minutes to pristine beaches. Buena Vista Surf Club isn’t just for surfers and yogi's, it welcomes anyone seeking a bit of chilled-out luxury in the sun.
It’s a cosy setup with only six cabañas, all built to complement the natural environment around us. Guests eat together in delicious family-style meals of home-cooked local food. Every day includes yoga on the sundeck and surfboard hire or surfing lessons. And there are lots of other activities in the area if you want a bit of fun, including turtle-spotting, sailing, fishing, horseback riding, ziplining, as well as the bars, cafés and shops of the nearby San Juan del Sur.
With expert instruction, fresh, locally sourced cuisine, and loads of other activities, this trip is the perfect way to relax and re-energize.

Melinda Abbott is a yoga teacher, adjunct lecturer, fitness freak, doctoral candidate, veggie lover and pit bull terrier mom who is constantly moving, learning and motivating others to break a sweat!
Melinda’s yoga experience dates back 20 years to that first fateful class where she fell asleep in savasana and realized she had never before stopped to simply breathe and be in her body. Since then, she has completed over 600 hours of yoga training, at Integral Yoga (2005), Jivamukti Yoga (2012) and Pure Yoga. Melinda is grateful to have studied under some truly remarkable teachers including Sharon Gannon, David Life, Scott Harig, Shana Swanson and many more.
While teaching Early Childhood Wellness and Intro to Nutrition at Hostos Community College in the South Bronx, Melinda is also working toward her doctoral degree in Health Education at Columbia University (anticipated summer 2016). Melinda can be found leading sold-out classes 15 times a week at NYC’s world-class fitness club Equinox, as well as workshops and international retreats. In the spirit teaching from a place of truth, Melinda is dedicated to maintaining her physical fitness and pursuing a path of spiritual growth. She embraces life with abundant, loving and generous energy.About Melinda Abbott
The lodge in Playa Maderas is an off-the-grid eco-lodge powered by solar energy and supported by fresh local food suppliers for a low-impact experience. The setting, tropical climate, and lodge service and food are wonderful. The region boasts terrific biodiversity and wildlife with frequent visits by howler monkeys, sloths, and parrots. You will live for a week in thatched roof huts and the yoga deck (pictured) overlooks the Pacific Ocean.
This retreat exceeded all my expectations. Truly an amazing experience and if you are even thinking about it... just do it!!!
Great trip! Everyone couldn't have been nicer!
Trip was amazing. People were great, location was amazing, incredible staff. Would go back in a heartbeat.
This trip was spectacularly awesome in each and every respect. Wish I were still on it!!
Can't say enough great things about this trip. The setting was beautiful, the people were wonderful and the experience exceeded my expectations by far. Be aware that this is an eco-lodge, not a 5 star resort, so expect insects and other creatures in your cabanas. I brought my own yoga mat and beach towel, but the resort provided both so that wasn't necessary - bringing soap and shampoo, however, is.
