with Monica McMahon and Michelle Tamblyn in Hvalfjardarsveit, Iceland
6 nights in Hvalfjardarsveit, Iceland
Sat Oct 15 - Fri Oct 21, 2016
Experience the stark beauty of the natural world in Iceland. Immerse yourself in the elements for a 6 night stay at the Hotel Glymur with a spectacular view of the whale fjord (and hopefully the Northern Lights). Hotel Glymur is just minutes away from one of Iceland's tallest waterfalls. On retreat, we will enjoy the healing waters of the famous Blue Lagoon and experience a floating massage in the Secret Lagoon. We will experience Iceland and all its magic and unique unparalleled beauty. We willl spend a day touring the Golden Circle, Iceland's most popular tour featuring Gullfoss Waterfall, massive and majestic beauty untouched by nature, geothermal hot springs, and a regularly erupting geyser. More natural wonders are to be seen touring the south coastline, black sand beaches and basalt cliffs home to many shore birds, most notably puffins. We will also visit the Snæfellsjökull National Park and journey inside a lava tube of a dormant volcano. The Park has many features including the Snæfellsjökull Glacier which lies on top of the volcano. Snæfellsjökull became famous after Jules Verne described it as the gateway to the center of the earth in his book "A Journey to the Center of the Earth" and is supposed to be one of the seven great energy centers of the earth. Journaling, meditation and free time will be weaved in throughout the retreat.

If sitting in a geothermal hot tub watching the Northern Lights sounds heavenly, Hotel Glymur is a must for your bucket list. The hotel sits about an hour outside Reykjavik, perched on a remote hillside in Hvalfjordur. Inside it's both a hotel and art gallery, crammed with knick-knacks - brightly woven rugs, painted ceramics, wooden carvings - from local artists.
Though not cutting-edge chic, it's colorful and homey, a contrast to the wild and elemental setting. The vibe continues in 22 split-level rooms, where you can retreat with a friend or lover, and 6 self-catering contemporary cottages, which suit families. The staff are welcoming, the atmosphere laid-back, and the food delicious. A great base for hiking, whale-watching, midnight-golfing or simply basking in the awesome landscape.
Our trip to Iceland was absolutely INCREDIBLE. GetFitRetreats - Monica and Michelle - did a phenomenal job coordinating our trip. From start to end (booking, preparation / packing, on the ground transport, hotel accommodations, activities) we had a wonderful time. Highly recommend.
The retreat to Iceland was nothing less than extraordinary. The location was magical, the excursions amazing, and our coordinators Monica and Michele were outstanding.
The Iceland trip was terrific! Loved the touring, yoga, participants leaders, we had amazing transportation also. ICELAND is a wonderful place to visit. The scenery and people are wonderful. There was a little too much driving. But we were able to see much of the country.
The trip was fabulous. Iceland is a natural paradise. The yoga retreat was sensational. The accomodation couldn't have been more comfortable and the limo/tour guide service, Ice Limo, is a five star service.
This was an incredible trip-jam packed with adventure with plenty of opportunity to see the country as well as do much yoga. Monica and Michelle were great leaders both in the very high level of detail and activities, as well as the yoga and Reiki provided.
