MESSAGE FROM THE AMBASSADOR

Our motto is to live well without borders. Every part of our life is meant to be enjoyed. Learn from the culture known to live well, and experience how to bring balance back to your daily life.
- Karen Brar

Highlights

Wellness travel isn’t about spending 7 days taking it easy only to return to the hustle and bustle of everyday life, forgetting the calm you experienced while you were away. Instead, it is an adventure for the mind, body and soul. It’s not a fad or a trend. It’s about experiencing the world around you and channelling those experiences when you return back home.

Going beyond the average yoga retreat, Nourished Union gives you the chance to fully experience the connection between mind, body and soul. We will guide you through the trip; but, we are not tour guides. Instead, we accompany on a journey where health and wellness are front and centre. Where you learn about where you are by connecting with the local culture. These travel experiences are fashioned to allow you the chance to connect with yourself, loved ones, nature and the destination itself. At Nourished Union, we help you maintain the discoveries and learnings you experienced abroad and show you how to incorporate them into your daily routine.

Discover the amazing landscapes and cultural heritage of Tuscany in October! This is a time dedicated to spending time in the woods, foraging and harvesting. Follow your daly yoga practice by experiencing how the locals live off the land, and uncover their deep rooted customs in wine, food, nature and simply living well!

The Instructor

Karen Brar
Yoga Ambassador

Karen was set on a path of wellness from a young age. Her journey started on the stage, as a professional contemporary dancer and producer, eventually leading her to the corporate world - producing events. At which time, she began healing her body (from old dance injuries) with yoga. The magic of the practice soon took over, and she found herself coming back to the mat to seek balance mentally and emotionally, in addition to the many positive physical affects. Her practice took a shape of healing other parts of her life, in a way she didn't expect. By applying the tools learned on the mat, she was able to undo old patterns and develop new pathways for her mind-body to connect and overcome stress, anxiety and overwhelm. This deeper awareness eventually lead Karen to pursue further studies in the holistic modalities to learn the in-depth philosophies and practices of Yoga and Ayurveda and how how to apply them to support others affected by stress.

Her practice is focused on a truly holistic approach of balancing the mind, body, emotions and senses by leveraging the ancient practices of Yoga and Ayurveda, and applying them in the modern world. She leans on scientific backing to support these great tools and practices, and integrates this knowledge in a tangible way for people to immediately feel the affects of lower stress, balancing the nervous system and living consciously through preventative holistic health. Through personal coaching, online programs and in person events and workshops, she helps people to develop new habits through a daily practice that works within their busy lives. And in turn, leads people to bring attention to balancing one’s whole self, uncovering a deeper potential and living a more meaningful and connected life.

In 2016, Karen founded Nourished Union - focused on curating ancient practices for the modern world. Its is that wellness is the holistic balance of mind, body and soul. And that it is more than a nice to have on your to-do list. Rather, it is a right to all living beings, and the a way of living. Though for most of us, this busy world has taken us off balance. Nourished Union believes in living well everywhere we go, in all aspects of life. Whether at home, work, on the road, or with family/friends – living your most conscious and connected life allows you to experience the now, come into balance and achieve living your most meaningful life.

UPCOMING DEPARTURES

Le Pianore

The villas are immersed within a 50 ha estate of rolling hills, vineyards, groves and woodlands. Having no immediate neighbours means we have total privacy, and no noise restrictions or curfew; making it an ideal venue for a retreat. The gardens are a playground for adults and children alike: lime, oak and cherry trees provide shade, while lavender and thyme, roses, jasmine and broom perfume and enliven the landscape. Dip into our swimming pool for respite from the midday heat and enjoy lounging on the deck chairs until sunset, watching the sky turn red and feeling the cool evening air descend.

We have been hosting retreats and providing support to teachers and workshop leaders for more than a decade. Many of our clients return year after year, becoming friends along the way. We feel that teamwork is key to creating extraordinary experiences and we will help you craft a unique and inspiring program: from planning your menu and tailoring activities to making you and your guests feel at home in our home.

A multifunctional studio with plenty of natural light, it is generously equipped with yoga and tatami mats, tables, chairs and blankets as well as a sound system. For those wishing to practice immersed in nature, there is a large sundeck and a shaded porch adjacent to the studio. In the cooler months the space is kept warm and cosy by a wood burning stove.

My trip to Cinigiano, Italy was fabulous! Such amazing food, lots of site-seeing. The yoga studio was so amazing. Highly recommend the Tuscany area. It was so beautiful and relaxing and the natives are all so welcoming. I didn't initially know anyone that was attending the trip, but everyone was very nice and made me feel welcome.

The Italian Adventure with Suzanne Hauserman was every thing I needed; yoga, hiking, cooking class, great food, great wine, fantastic excursions and meeting like minded people, I did not want to leave.

Well, whenever I think about Le Pianore and the time spent with my best friends, I start to well up. The land was magical, literally. Obviously Caitlin is my friend but she’s an incredible teacher. Between yoga (when I could do it), meditation, and silent walks my soul is so full. My love is a natural and I’ll keep going on her retreats. I’ll also be going back to Le Pianore. Home away from home.

The trip was beyond my expectations and Le Pianore was the perfect, quaint, BEAUTIFUL spot for the retreat. From waking up each morning to the sound of chirping birds, practicing yoga in a studio with the most spectacular views imaginable to the tasty, healthy, fresh meals each day and fantastic off-site excursions that were planned. And the Micillo family (proprietors) were so lovely and accommodating to all of our needs and requests. Kudos, also, to Julie and Jana for all of their hard work and planning that went into putting together this wonderful trip!

Perfect trip from beginning to end. Breathtaking Tuscan views from your comfy room. Delicious, fresh cheeses, vegetables, breads and regional dishes prepared and served with love. So enjoyed roaming the countryside, exploring flora and fauna, tasting the fruits of the land...all with the brightest of blue skies. Day trips to Siena, private wine tastings, charming towns and villages put you right inside the heart and soul of the region. Hosts Elena and Enrica charmed us from our first hello-hug to our last kisses goodbye and our drivers proved fun and engaging. Give yourself this trip; you will be glad you did!
