Join me for another adventure, this time on the amazing Island of Amorgos Greece. Once again we will practice daily and set aside time for outside adventures and comraderie.

- Susan Parsley

Amorgos is an island off the beaten track, a true gem of the Aegean Sea. Its dramatic landscape, with abrupt cliffs alternating with slopes filled with wild herbs, contrast to the serene Big Blue that surrounds the land. An extent network of hiking trails offers the opportunity for beautiful walks reaching some of the island's most important monuments, such as the 1000 year old Monastery of Panagia Chozoviotissa, built in the cliffs 300 meters above the sea, or the Byzantine Monastery of St George Valsamitis, built upon the ruins of an ancient water oracle dedicated to god Apollo.

Getting There

To travel to Amorgos island, you must arrange your flights to arrive in Santorini island (airport code JTR). From Santorini, you will have a ferry to Amorgos. The ferry departs the Santorini seaport at 12:15pm. Therefore, you must arrange your arrival into Santorini no later than 10:00am to have time to exit the plane and take a short taxi ride from the airport to the seaport (which is named Thira port). On the return, the ferry from Amorgos arrives in Santorini at 3:20pm. Therefore, you will need to arrange your departure flight from Santorini after 6:00pm to be able to get a taxi from the seaport to the airport and check in for an international flight. Many travelers elect to stay an extra night (or more) in Santorini or Athens to continue their trip and have more time in Greece or to have a shorter domestic flight (Santorini to Athens) and layover in another beautiful place before the longer international flight home.
