Step out of the shadows and into the light! Dee has transformed her once unfulfilled, gloomy past into a bright shining beacon of love and happiness. In 2012, overweight and titter-tottering on the verge of a serious depression, Dee decided to take up yoga in the hopes of distracting herself from her current state of being, but what she discovered was something much more profound. As her practice evolved, she could feel her heart open, her mind become more aware, her body become stronger, and her spirit soar to new depths of existence.
In 2014, Dee graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology, minors in Spanish and Social Work. After graduating, her journey only deepened further. Fostering a newfound sense of self-acceptance, discovery, and awareness, Dee reached out to Teri Honeysuckle, founder of YogaGypsy. And in 2015, she completed her 200-hour yoga teacher certification. What started as an alternative way to escape the constraints of her mind, has since blossomed into an entire career of practice, instruction, and happiness. She has utilized her shadows and undesirable qualities and transformed them into tools for living a happier, healthier life.
Dee is current owner of YogaGypsy and is pursuing her 500-hour teacher certification under Teri Honeysuckle. When she is not on her mat or in the studio, you can find her outside hiking around in the woods, in her kayak, or practicing SUP (stand up paddleboard) yoga on Beaver Lake. Dee admits that her strong connection to nature, paired with regular yoga practice is the reason why she is here today to share this beautiful practice with the rest of the world.About Danielle (Dee) Schillinger
Our hostel is located in an old 18th century winery at the heart of the most photogenic island in the world - Santorini. We have built our hostel with a series of cave houses and terraces with amazing views and small gardens with lemon, pomegranate, orange, pear, vanilla and pistachio trees. You can choose from a wide range of accommodation options – we have dormitory style bunk beds, single beds and private double rooms.
The decor is largely home-spun, using many types of local techniques and repurposing antique and local furniture. The caves themselves represent the most typical traditional Santorinian architecture. Locals simply used to dig their houses -the caves (grotto)- into 3600 year old volcanic pumice. The island of Santorini has a long standing tradition in cultivating wine, and inside caves was one of the many places used for making and storing it.
We've decorated in a shabby-chic style to cater to the needs of today’s modern travelers and backpackers, we also offer the following services and facilities:
