Tra was led to yoga in the spring of 1998 when unexpectedly coming upon an open house at a local yoga studio at a time of Divine Discontent - unhappy, unhealthy, and unsettled. Inspired by the healing powers of yoga, not just the stuff that is done on the mat, but the deeper, magical qualities that help one unfold, Tra left her 15-year career to pursue further education and training in yoga and healing arts. In 2005 Tra became certified as a Kripalu Yoga Teacher and began sharing the practice of healing and wholeness that comes from one’s willingness to go within. In the years that followed, Tra continued learning and growing both personally and professionally, becoming an ERYT-500 with Yoga Alliance and a Certified Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
In 2014 Tra joined two friends and colleagues to launch The Center for Integrative Yoga Studies, which offers 200 and 300 hour Yoga Alliance approved training programs that combine the latest research and methods of yoga and therapy with traditional and innovative applications of meditation, biomedical and pain science, as well as yoga practices and philosophy. CIYS offers its programs at various studios on the East Coast of the US.
