Selah Estrada is an Island Girl in every way, born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii and certified to teach yoga from Hawaii as well. Her certification is for Muti-style Yoga which she incorporates in all her classes and encourages people to explore traditional and non traditional asanas. "We are never stuck in anything with yoga" is a constant reminder she enforces to her students and private clients. Yoga is here for us to discover, play with and open ourselves up to a deeper connection to oneself. It doesn't have to be just spiritual or physical, Yoga can translate to many instances in life on and off of the mat! Part of the reason why facilitating retreats was the next step is that Selah wants to provide a space that encourages growth, playfulness, adventure and body/mind awareness for others; what better way then on a beach connecting with the beauty of our surroundings!
Having started her yoga journey over 6 years ago and teaching for over 2; she finds that the greatest time of connection is when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable, raw, explorative and non judgmental to others and ourselves. Selah's Classes range from gentle Hatha Flows to Get up and Move your Asana Flows! She is versed in Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga, Meditation, Myo-fascial Muscle work, Body work, Ashtanga influenced practices and Vinyasa. Being able to cultivate a yoga class that caters to specific needs, intentions or energy is highly important to her as she never pre sequences classes or has set intentions; other then to connect and be present with you!
"Yoga came to me at a point in my life that I needed it most, I was unhealthy, un happy and for lack of better words; Lost. I Had experienced some severe body trauma when I was 17 in a major car accident, it left me riddled with illness, body issues and constant migraines/ random ailments. I woke up one day knowing that something needed to change but not sure what! That was the day I started yoga; at first I resisted but then I found such a deep rooted love for it I could not imagine my life without my practice now. Its not about being perfect, getting poses(asana's) perfect or even being flexible! Its more so about finally understanding how your body is suppose to feel, how your mind can train itself to be in a constant state of acceptance and self love and how even if its just mindful eating; it is all YOGA!"
