Marissa was born in California but finds herself grounded in midst of movement. As a certified yoga teacher, eager traveller, and self-published author, Mar envisions all experience as a space for exploring the self/word relationship. She admires the beauty in uninhibited self-expression and is inspired by the potential we gain through vulnerability: to share our personal experiences and perspectives and connect with each other to learn and grow as both individuals and communities. Mar's studies pull from many traditions; she likes to think of her practice as an always changing, playful weave of Vinyasa, Hatha and Iyengar. Her yoga classes challenge students (physically and mentally), but leaves them with many options so that they can actively participate in creating their own practice; she brings a mix of playfulness and introspection; encouraging students to continue the practice of self-awareness, self-empowerment and positive transformation by sharing personal anecdotes and philosophical insights we can take off our mat into our lives. She knows the story "yoga saved my life" and wants to hear yours. She is always open to connecting and exchanging stories; willing to share how the practice brought her away from a negative, weighted word to a place where everything is possible. She thinks not taking ourselves too seriously along this journey is important so, invites laughter, play and fun, vibin' playlists, at all times. WIth her work at local studios, festivals and retreats, she aims to facilitate space for you to practice whatever it is the most serves you; to connect with others through those practices while you learn, share, collaborate and grow individually and collectively- we are all in this together.
