200hr ERYT, 500hr ERYT, 200hr Katonah Yoga
Josie Schweitzer is a yoga instructor who teaches as a way to give voice to the truth of our experience and existence.
A longtime runner, Josie found the stretching and sweating of yoga instantly familiar, but it was the way it deeply resonated with her mind and body that kept her coming back to the mat. The holds and postures shifted her thinking and unlocked stagnant emotions, reminding Josie what it really meant to feel alive.
After practicing for just a short while, she quickly went on to complete her 200-hour teacher training in Costa Rica in 2011, and soon after opened Thank Yoga Studio in Columbus, Ohio. She has since completed her 500-hour teacher training with Yoga Works in New York City in 2013, and currently leads 200-hour teacher trainings she has structured and developed as her own.
Today, Josie teaches vinyasa style classes with a heavy focus on alignment and breath. She chooses her words carefully to offer guidance without coddling her students, so they are not rushed through their personal learning process. Each sequence is artfully crafted with intention and intelligence, providing a cohesive structure for an eye-opening, transformative truth seeking journey.
Yoga with Josie transcends the concept of a workout. Fusing the physical with the mental and emotional, Josie empowers her students through the practice to push past self-doubt and fear, and trust the abundance of strength that lies within.
Josie was voted one of Columbus’ top yoga instructors and featured on the cover of the April 2015 Shape Issue of Columbus Monthly, whose readers ranked her studio Thank Yoga among the top three best yoga studios in 2013, 2014 and 2015. An alumni Lululemon ambassador, Josie continues to teach events for their brand and community. You can find her published writing on elephant journal.
