5 Tips to Help You (Truly) Relax and Unwind on Vacation

Vacation is the opportunity for you to take the time you need to relax, recenter and refocus. You should come back feeling rejuvenated, more yourself and ready to take on the world.

Here are our best tips to get the most out of your trip and truly unwind.


1. Delegate, Delegate, Delegate.

Before you go, line up your go-to pet-sitting, mail-gathering, plant-watering neighbor. Ply your work buddy with coffee and cronuts and trust they will help handle things in your absence. Just be prepared to return the favor when they jet off somewhere fabulous too.

2. Take a Tech Break.

In our always on, always connected world, it’s easy to get sucked back into our everyday lives — even when we’ve traveled halfway across the globe to escape them. So, go into the mail settings on your phone and hide your work email inbox. Don’t open until you’re back at your desk! You’ve earned your time off — so leave the office behind.

3. Have a Mindful Moment.

Each day, take time to reflect. Breathe deep and remind yourself where you are. Soak up the beauty of your surroundings. Being in the moment can help you appreciate the change in perspective unfamiliar territory provides.

4. Don’t Overschedule.

It can be tempting to try to cram as many sites and cities as possible into the precious few days you have. Resist the urge. Build in some free time into your itinerary to explore your environment and take advantage spontaneous opportunities. Expect the unexpected!
